Marie-Julie Malboeuf is studying sports at the Regional Cégep of Lanaudière in l’Assumption. She is currently 21 years old and has been practicing weightlifting for 8 years now. She is part of the Canadian senior team which allows her to be invited to all international competitions. She competed at the World Junior Championships in Peru in May 2013 and in June 2014 but this time in Russia. She holds Canadian junior records; Snatch and Overall. She was selected to participate to the Commonwealth Games venues in Scotland in July 2014 and earned the 7th place in the -58k category. She is currently in first place in the junior rankings in Canada and fourth at the senior rank.
The new goal was to earn a spot at 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil but due to a back injury she had to postpone that dream…. for now!
She is recovering fast and when she is not training she devotes herself to her passion and teaches weightlifting to future aspiring athletes
